Code of Conduct

In-Person Attendees

We’re dedicated at Litmus to making Litmus Live a safe and inclusive event. Fostering this environment means pledging to make our event and our community a harassment-free experience for everyone, where we agree to treat one another with consideration and respect.

The Litmus Live Code of Conduct is designed to promote a safe environment for all attendees, speakers, sponsors, and staff. All participants are required to follow the Code of Conduct.

By attending Litmus Live, you are agreeing to follow this Code of Conduct. We expect participants to follow these guidelines at the conference and workshop venues and conference-related social events.

What is harassment?

Harassment includes offensive verbal remarks related to age, race, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, physical appearance, body size, ethnicity, religion or creed, veteran status, citizenship, economic status, or any other attribute which can be used to discriminate against an individual or group of people. Harassment also includes displaying sexual images, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, photography or recording of others without their permission, disruption of talks, inappropriate contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Keep in mind that this list is not exhaustive, and conference staff have the final say in determining what is deemed harassment or inappropriate behavior.

How do I report an incident?

If you are being harassed or feel unsafe or uncomfortable in any way, you can:

  • Contact any Litmus staff member.
  • Email a shared inbox, monitored by multiple staff contacts, at conference@litmus.com.
  • Direct message @litmusapp on Twitter
  • Submit a report of the incident or behavior via this online form* (this will be linked prior to the conference). We respect your privacy, and you can omit any personal details if you wish to remain anonymous.

We’ll investigate the issue promptly and provide relevant updates throughout the process.

When describing an incident, please include as much pertinent information as you feel comfortable sharing. You can use this as a template:

  • Who are you? (if you feel safe sharing that information)
  • Who was involved?
  • How would you describe what happened?
  • How would you like us to contact you?

We know that revisiting this information can be unpleasant, and we empathize with you. We ask for detail because the more context we have, the more informed and thorough our investigation and response can be.

Litmus Live staff will be happy to help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We’re here to support you.

If you feel you have been unfairly accused of violating these guidelines, please follow the same reporting process. We also ask you to report if you observe a violation of the code of conduct happening to someone else.

What are the consequences of violating the Code of Conduct?

After investigation, Litmus Live participants found violating this code of conduct will be expelled from the conference without a refund at the discretion of the conference organizers.

Virtual Attendees

The Litmus Live Code of Conduct is designed to promote a safe environment for all attendees, speakers, sponsors, and staff. All participants are required to follow the Code of Conduct.

By participating in Litmus Live, you are agreeing to follow this Code of Conduct.

We will not tolerate harassment of any participants of Litmus Live; not within the Litmus Live Slack community, during live sessions, or while interacting with fellow participants in other channels..

Harassment also includes displaying sexual images in a public channel or direct message, deliberate intimidation, stalking, inappropriate recording of others, sustained disruption of talks, inappropriate contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Keep in mind that this list is not exhaustive, and conference staff has the final say in determining what is deemed harassment or inappropriate behavior.

As networking and participation will be virtual, additional considerations relevant to Litmus Live Slack channel and live session interactions include:

Direct interaction and messages

Do not send direct messages to other participants without their consent. Channels created in the Litmus Live Slack community exist as a way to network openly and with transparency for the benefit of all participants. If you are communicating with someone in a channel and need to ask a more specific, 1:1 question, ask for permission before sending a direct message.

Live Optimization and Question & Answer Sessions

During Live Optimization, attendees are encouraged to interact and provide relevant feedback and suggestions. All live chat opportunities will be monitored by the Conference staff. When a comment is made which is found to be in violation of this code of conduct, the participant will be removed from that and all future live sessions and unable to access any related content. Feedback will be provided in a constructive manner, meant to help provide ideas relevant to the creation of a successful email.
